DvH is 10 days and I can't stop clening things!

Anyone else go through this? As of yesterday, I seem to have this DRIVE to get things "in order". Yesterday, I spent hours ironing my husband's work clothes (while watching college football). I mean serious ironing - like 4 weeks worth of dress shirts and pants..... Today, I seem to have moved on the scrubbing laminate floors and hauling out the carpet cleaner to clean the area rugs. My floors aren't even this clean when the in laws visit! I even caught myself taking inventory of my pantry a little while ago and making a store list so we can go one last time next weekend for non-perishable stuff. I guess in my head my plan is to make things as easy as possible on my elderly parents and hubby. My parents will be with me for the first 7-10 days, then hubby takes over once he gets home from work. I'm now thinking about taking down all my curtains and washing/ironing them tomorrow...What's wrong with me???

Re: DvH is 10 days and I can't stop clening things!

I went through it, too. It just helped me feel much better. I couldn't do much about the work of the doctor or the hospital, but I could be darn sure that everything on my end was taken care of before I went in...even to the extent of making a will.

After all of that, everything turned out fine, but doing all the prep work helped me keep down the pre-op jitters.

Best wishes to you!

Don't worry, it's normal!

Same here, closets organized, pantry cleaned, grocery list ready! Cooked 3 dinners and sent two to the freezer. Not sure if anyone will happen by, but my housekeeping skills won't be questioned it's just hubby and 4 dogs but still want things as smooth as possible.

Re: DvH is 10 days and I can't stop clening things!

My surgery is about 6 weeks away and honestly I have no energy left after working to do much more then cook dinner and do some basic cleaning, like laundry, and cleaning the kittyboxes. Maybe once it gets closer to my time I'll get the cleaning bug. During normal times my house could use a good cleaning let alone now when i'm not feeling good.

Will I get a surge of energy prior to my surgery to clean?

Re: DvH is 10 days and I can't stop clening things!

My pre OP jitters are consisting of shopping. New pillows, binder, and tons of bottled water and easy food.
I can't be on my feet long before I start hurting right now and my energy is zapped. Really doubt cleaning will make my priority list :-(
I do love a clean house, but I do love feeling better more right now.

Re: DvH is 10 days and I can't stop clening things!

My surgery is in 6 days and my brain is so full of things to do. I have to make a lists, 3week of schedule for work, laundry, grocery shopping, etc. I live by myself and have to move things from the bottom self to the top so I can reach them later. Thinking about the last 2 surgeries I always wait til the last couple of day, because I can't sleep.

My surgery is still several weeks away and I have no energy or will to clean. I'm sitting here fretting over every little thing related to the hysterctomy or not. I feel frozen.

Re: DvH is 10 days and I can't stop clening things!

I completely understand! I have daily to-do lists and have been cleaning/organizing everything I can get my hands on. For me personally, it is a way for me to burn off some nervous energy. I'm SO ready for my surgery but naturally a little anxious! Also, I figure if I get everything done now, I won't be compelled to overdo it while I'm recovering. Best wishes...hope all goes well for you!

Re: DvH is 10 days and I can't stop clening things!

I definitely did lots right before surgery. It was like when you nest right before going into labour to have your child and you do lots then. Part of it is nerves I think because now I am in chemo treatments and during each of my good weeks before I go back in again I do tons. I have to force myself to rest right before the blood work day so that my counts are up to get the chemo again but right after they draw the blood there is no stopping me for the next two days before I get the chemo again.
