New to the site need advice

I just found this website on Sat night. I am post op TAH on Feb 7th. I can't understand this feeling good one day then terrible the next. I cry at the drop of a hat (but still have one ovary), so not sure if it is hormonal or just me being totally crazy. Would love some advice as to what I can do to make this easier on me and my poor family.
Thanks sisters,
Lisa

I'm two weeks post-op tomorrow, but I'm going through the same things. Weepy for no reason. I'm having hot falshes, too. I was left with one ovary, also.

From what I've gleaned from reading on this site, it's pretty normal. My doctor had told me I might be feeling this way too. Due to my body adjusting to just one ovary and then that remaining ovary tyring to "wake up" after the trauma of surgery.

I'd say hang in there and start searching this site for more answers. Try typing keywords into the search feature. That helped me tremendously.

Good luck and keep us posted.

to you!!!

From all I have read on this site most people have good days and bad days emotionally and physically. Physically you find out quick when you have done too much then you start to beat yourself up mentally because you should have known better. Try to rest as much as you can. I tried to give my brain a break also. Keep up with this website, it helps reading that you are not the only one feeling the way you are. Hope you are feeling better soon. Take It Easy

It feels so great that I am not the only one out there with these feelings. I wish I had known about this site before my surgery. You all are great to reply so promptly. Thanks for the support. Hope everyone is having a good day today!!

Hi Lisa - I'm so glad you found us here at HysterSisters!!!

I'm sorry you're having such a rough time right now, though. Please don't feel alone! You are so very close to your surgery date right now and you're in the very first stages of healing. Your body has a lot of work to do in order to heal up and you really need lots of rest, lots of water, some extra protein and lots of patience for yourself. The famous 6-week milestone really just marks the end of the first stages of healing- but like me, a lot of Sisters take a little longer. Every Sister is very different. Some heal a little more quickly, some go for a few weeks and hit a rough patch before feeling better again, some get a little over-enthusiastic and over-do things (and then regret it!) . Some of us spend a lot of time on HysterSisters after surgery!

Also, it is normal to have one good day and then a rough day. The reason for this is a bit of a mystery. I believe it has something to do with the major changes going on in your body. As far as being emotional, well, I think you'll find that a lot of us go through that for a while after surgery, too.

The best advice I got (besides "You only get one good chance to heal, so be easy on yourself") was from my surgeon. He said, "Listen to your body!" He reminded me that if he lifted bending restrictions, but it hurt for me to bend, then I really shouldn't do it. He made it clear that even though I needed to wait to do things until he "cleared" me, if it didn't feel right, I definitely shouldn't do it.

I'd also like to encourage you to never hesitate to call your doctor if you have questions about ANYTHING. He or she knows your medical situation the best, and part of their job is to answer questions and educate you. For example, please do call your doctor about being emotional. It may turn out that there is a hormonal reason, but they may be able to offer you some relief. They especially like to track any symptoms like this for the next few months. Your doctor can sometimes be a great help on your road to recovery - and they should be!

I really am glad you found us here. Liza-lou and feelinglighter had great advice - I hope you find the answers you're looking for while you're here.

Best wishes to you!
movingforward

You had your surgery the same day as mine. I kept both my ovaries and I am constantly crying and depressed. I also have days where I am ok but really can't wait to feel better. What you are feeling is normal. I was for about a week having night sweats but the dr said that should go away and if it doesn't he will have my hormone levels tested. I also just want to say thank you for starting this thread and thank you to everyone who answered. It is nice to know I am not alone and that other sisters are feeling this way.
