Having Terrible time before hysterectomy on 10/27 (constipation, BM issues - any ideas?)

This may be sort of a weird suggestion, but ... might it be possible for you to use for want of a better word for it, a dildo? Just as something stiff and the right shape to insert into your vagina and hold there while you try to poop? Maybe it will help keep things in the right position while you bear down.

I know it's a strange suggestion, but if you've gotten to the point where it's really hard to poop, you're probably ready to try ANYTHING at this point. I would have slammed my hand in a car door to have a drama-free bowel movement by the time I was ready for surgery.

BTW, your surgery is almost exactly one year after mine. I can tell you from a year later, that I feel wonderful. I eat without drama, and about a half hour after I have my morning coffee, I can generally unload whatever I'd eaten the day before without any angst or drama. I can't wait until you can join in the post-op forums. :-) Keep us all posted!

LOL Thanks! I'm doubting it would help to try to hold things up as he says my uterus just comes right down every time I try to push... and today it actually hurt some when he was examining me.
(I think things have gone too far.... or.. Gravity has won this battle. LOL)
And I also don't want to injure any tissues or introduce any bacteria in that zone. So I will just try to be patient and wait til 10/27! As long as I know I will be able to go somewhat.. I'm good. I'm actually very relieved.
I can't tlee you how much I appreciate your responses!! they have made a huge difference for me. And I will certainly post any other questions that I come up with and of course I will let you all know how it goes.

This will also sound weird, but ... could you tuck an open diaper under you and try to bear down a little while lying on your back with your knees up a titch? I don't want to get too strange, but I remember how annoying it was when it was me in that situation. :-(

No I see what you are saying but..Nope.. The muscles I normally use to go literally don't work anymore. I have to go totally differently. And so far.. have been able to and I will keep up with the Miralax and try to be patient. It is just very very thin. So for once my hubby is right when he says I'm full of it! LOL But only for a few more weeks! He better enjoy this while he can!

Did you gyn ever mention referring you to a proctologist to make sure that you don't have any bowel prolapses together with your cystocele and uterine prolapse. I had similar BM symptoms to you together with a uterine prolapse and a proctologist diagnosed me with an intussusception and rectocele. Hope this is not the case with you and a hyster alone will fix your problems - best of luck.

He said he didn't feel any rectocele when he examined me but I asked if after the surgery I was still having trouble could he refer me to a Procto and he said sure. So here's hoping he won't have to!

And I have a UTI... What a shock... NOT! Oy.. LOL

So I thought I would update this thread. I am now 3.5 weeks post-op and I can report I no longer have this issues with the thin stools at all! The surgery has corrected this problem! I am still on Miralax though so as to avoid any straining. But whew!! I feel tons better in this department!

Ugh! I'm where you were. SO ANNOYING! Still have 8.5 weeks until my TVH with A&P repair. Nervous but so looking forward to feeling normal down below.
