Almost a week after hysterectomy

It has almost been a week since the surgery and it has been quite a week. I had some up and downs. Yesterday, I felt better than i did this morning. MIL had dinner for friends and it was bit more than I could handle but I made it through. I rested the whole time and dinner was good. She had roast beef, potatoes & carrots, pasta salad, and some other foods. I was able to eat the rb, p&c, and some pasta salad. I think I paid for it this morning.

I was able to eat cereal, but it was not easy. I felt uncomfortable and bloated. I felt like I was nauceous, too, so i made the decision to take a gas-x and went to lay down on the recliner. I continued to drink water as i rested, but several hours later i begin to feel better. My back has been bothering me because of the catheter and not being able to lay on my side yet. I am not sure abt taking showers so i have been doing sponge baths. I have had BM,s, just not today and I have been constantly drinking water...usually nursing a 16.9 oz bottle until done and then drink another. I have been drinking gatoraid and apple juice.

I have a doctor' appt tomorrow (April 16) with primary to go over the surgery and my possibility of being a diabetic. I will ask her abt checking my incision with staples. Those will come out Tuesday when i see the surgeon and hopefully the cath is taking out too. This cath is inconvenient...walking isn't easy...having to drag it with me and so forth. I know it was needed and all...but I cannot wait to get rid of it. Sorry to pst so long and feel a bit sorry for myself, i just had a lot to say.

I just wanted to give you some so that they might make you feel a tad better. Please continue taking good care of yourself and be careful not to overdo it.

Hi Bookfan...I'm sorry you had to go all week wearing the catheter!! I'm sure you'll be so relieved to have that gone! :-)
