Packing for tomorrow's big day -what am I forgetting?

Have to be at the hospital at 6:30 a.m. so I know my brain will not be functioning. I have my bag packed with some PJs, extra undies, hand lotion / chap stick, throat lozanges (for post op), some hair combs / headbands, and my kindle. I'll put my phone in there tomorrow with the charger (Hubby will bring my bag once I'm out of surgery).
What else am I forgetting?? What else do I need? Toothbrush / toothpaste is at the hospital. I feel like I am forgetting something MAJOR. They said 1-2 nights so I should be home Friday / Saturday. UGH I have brain freeze!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Little pillow for your tummy? Especially if you'll have visitors who want to hug you! And you will!

Re: Packing for tomorrow's big day -what am I forgetting?

Here's the list I've made for myself:

MP3 player with headphones (and charger)
sleep mask and earplugs
pillows: small tummy pillow, one for IV hand, my regular one
back scratcher in case of the itchies after anesthesia
facial wipes
peppermint tea bags
fanny pack to hang on the bed rails
big water bottle
hard candies (lemon drops) & peppermint
cuddly blanket
heating pad with extension cord
robe
slipper socks
big panties
contacts and glasses, brush, hair holders
cell phone and charger,
chapstick,
hand lotion
slip on shoes and loose dress to wear home
magazines
bag of chocolates and thank you notes to write for nurses
Notebook with pen for every doctor/nurse interaction(me or family) to keep track of meds and instructions

Good luck!

Wear something loose that you can wear home, and I think you have it. I took even less and still didn't use it all. I think your bag packing job is done. Best wishes on your surgery.

Re: Packing for tomorrow's big day -what am I forgetting?

I took a robe and slippers...hairbrush...tooth brush, and some hand lotion. Thats all. Left cell phone HOME!
I was only there 36 hours and didnt open my bag until just before being released. To put my robe on over my lovely hospital gown to walk the hallway for the nurses.
DH took care of all the juice and water i need...and ice chips to suck on.
Good luck sisters!

Re: Packing for tomorrow's big day -what am I forgetting?

Your list looks great to me!

I know I hardly used anything I took with me to the hospital! The hospital gives you these great socks with little rubber grips on the bottom so I didn't wear slippers... and they give you some undies and they even gave me extra to bring home so I didn't use my own panties. They give you a great plastic drinking container with a bendable straw.... but I should probably add that I've read some people say NOT to drink using straws because of more gas issues... I didn't have any gas issues at all!
I couldn't concentrate enough to read... I could only watch light TV for about a week.

The things I really loved having:
Chapstick
back scratcher
my glasses (couldn't have put contacts in if my life depended on it!)
light fleece blanket
chocolate for both the O.R. prep nurses and later for the nurses on my floor
loose clothes to wear home.

I didn't use anything else I brought.

Re: Packing for tomorrow's big day -what am I forgetting?

I took:
-a book (never opened it)
-pen & paper to write everything (only wrote the word salpingo cuz i kept forgetting it)
-mp3 player (forgot charger)
-cell (forgot charger)
I just wore the same clothes home i wore there. I was dropped off by a friend and then picked up the next day so i couldnt have anyone bring me stuff. My advice is:

DON'T FORGET CHARGERS!!!!!

well wishes, make sure to keep us informed

Re: Packing for tomorrow's big day -what am I forgetting?

make sure you have some loose streachy pants or a loose dress to wear home. You will not want to have anything tight on your tummy.
