Re: 30 and Scared But Ready

I'm just one year older, going in the week before you. If you can find it, there's a great thread in the post-op forum called "Sex - yay!" that is tremendously encouraging. I've been worried and wondering, too, just how things may change. I'm choosing to believe that things will be better.

Re: 30 and Scared But Ready

kbid, thank you! I am really having a lot of concerns because I chose to have this surgery. My Dr., although he said that if I were older this would be his recommendation, left it completely up to me because he thought I was too young. I have tried other treatments, including surgery, but even if they had been successful only offer short term relief, hysterectomy is the only cure. My story is on the "I'm new here forum". Since you are close to my age, I was wondering what your Dr. had to say about your age. I also have talked to many of my friends who have had the surgery and they all said that with the correct HRT EVERYTHING was wonderful! I agree with you in thinking it will be better, I have a lot of pain during and after sex.

Re: 30 and Scared But Ready

Hi, ItsTough2BAGurl,
Like you I have such pain during and after sex, and it has been so bad I have just decided to stop all together. Luckily I have an understaning husband. I was sent to see an GYN/ONC after my GYN specialist felt I should have my ovaries removed. Once they looked at all my pain and suffering the GYN/ONC decided I needed to have an total hyserectomy with removal of both ovaries. I was told I am high risk for endomentrial cancer and they won't be certain if I have anything until they do my surgery. Since my first appointment in August things for me have went down hill. More pain, spotting, heavy period that is off one month and on the next. I have hip and thigh pain, and often my abdominal pain is so severe I can hardly walk. I feel as if my abdominal wants to explode. My back hurts and I have rectal pain and constation. What made me go to see an GYN Specialist was the fact each moring I would wake up with sever sore stomach. This all started September 2010 and now I am going to have this hysterectomy with hopes things will get better and I can get my life back. I wish you the very best.
