8 days Post op- vaginal discharge?

Ok, this is kind of gross so I apologize in advance, but I don't have anyone else to ask! I am eight days post op from having a LSH with BSO. I am having *almost* a clear discharge, continuously. There is a slight pinkish/yellowish tinge to it. I am having to wear a pad or my underwear gets pretty wet. At first I thought it was from my bladder, but it is definitely coming from my vaginal area. Ok, here is where it is kind of gross (so sorry!), but it has a strong vinegar odor. I don't think I have an infection but it is beginning to bother me. My first check up isn't until Monday. Has anyone had this before??

Re: 8 days Post op- vaginal discharge?

Not gross considering the things we've all gone through lately! I am almost 5 weeks post op and I've had the same discharge since my hyst and the smell for the last couple of weeks. Discharge is slowing down very gradually (I read it can take up to 8 weeks) so I haven't called my dr, since I really don't think its an infection. I've been attributing the smell to the sutures since I read that they get smelly as they start to dissolve and you pass them, but I don't think yours will be dissolving yet? Maybe I'll give my dr a call tomorrow for my piece of mind. I'll let you know what I find out.

Re: 8 days Post op- vaginal discharge?

I am 8 weeks post op! I had the same thing after the 2nd week until about the 5 week mark. Have not had any since. My instructions after surgery stated as long as I was not soaking a pad an hour, it was normal. Hope this helps. Happy healing.

Re: 8 days Post op- vaginal discharge?

Argh. I got a reply back from my dr with regard to the discharge which I described as thin, light yellow and a bit smelly. In the email I received in reply, he said any discharge with an odor should be treated with a round of antibiotics. My gut says there's no infection here and he's only going on my description in an email. At any rate, I guess I'll do as I'm told and get the prescription filled and complete the course of antibiotic.
