Help :(

I am 7 weeks post op. After having a pretty traumatic operation, due to being rushed back in a few hours later and close to deaths door losing 3 litres of blood, i thought till this last week i was doing fine. Suddenly not the case, as i am feeling totally unhappy, hopeless and worthless and nothing my husband does helps. I am teary and up and down with moods, much more than before my op. I am unable to take Hrt due to blood clots. Have basically been operated on twice, and sent home with no information on how i may feel or what to expect afterwards. I feel like my life is over today (like they took part of me away forever)

Re: Help :(

Hugs to you!! What your're feeling is likely due to a sudden drop in estrogen (along with the trauma of your surgery). Unfortunately it's pretty common. But, the good news is, your doctor can help you, even if you can't take hrt. Do give them a call - your general practitioner if you don't feel like your surgeon would be receptive.

Re: Help :(

so sorry you're feeling this way. An anti depressant might help while your body adjusts since you can't use hormones.

I am sorry things aren't going better for you. You have enough to deal with without hormones being out of wack. Some of my friends as well as some sisters have used an herbal remedy called Black Cohosh instead of hormones and it has worked for them. I don't know if you can take them if you are clotting but worth asking the doctor about.

As for the clotting are they giving you needles for that. I know I got a needle in my arm for that just before surgery and another two in my belly afterwards.

I hope everything starts to get better real soon. Big hugs.

Re: Help :(

I thought i would update this post. A few weeks after writing this i started taking evening primrose oil along with a daily vitamin tablets. My mood improved wonderfully and so did the hot flushes. I swear by the evening primrose now, as soon as i miss them and reduce them, i tend to feel down again. Also i introduced estrogen rich foods in to my diet. I now use soya milk regularly, and milled linseed. Apart from a few very painful bouts of adhesion pains, i can say i am feeling on top of the world and actually feeling pleased i had the op. (never thought i would say that)
