Excess skin problems

Before I had my Hysterectomy, a few years in the making, I noticed that I had feelings of my skin (stomach) feeling like it was ripping away internally. My fibroids were still growing during this time and I didn't know who to talk too or if if was because I was still putting weight on and maybe it was due to that. So, now that I've had my hysterectomy I have this skin that is just there.........I am trying to lose weight, but I just know that this skin is never going to go away without intervention.

Has anyone ever had this happen to them? Is there a medical reason related to the fibroids that would cause your insides to seperate and make all this excess material?? I'm to the point of going to a plastic surgeon to find out what has happened and can it be fixed..........

Would love to hear from anyone whose experienced this same thing.

Re: Excess skin problems

Are you sure it's not just loose skin that has lost its elasticity? I have some skin in my lower abdomen that is quit,,,sloppy if you will because it has been stretched past its elasticity point from pregnancy. Hope you can find some answers.

Re: Excess skin problems

I would love for it to be what you described but it is not. I have this hanging skin that I can't figure out where it came from.....I would love for it to be something I can correct by diet and exercise but it's not............this is so upsetting.

Re: Excess skin problems

I would consult with a plastic surgeon. Whatever the cause, a plastic surgeon will be one who can tell you the best course of action. I had the hanging skin thing too and blamed it on a combination of pregnancy, 2 c-sections, and loss of elasticity as I aged. Diet and exercise didn't help. As you can tell from my signature, I had a tummy tuck along with my hysterectomy and that corrected the problem beautifully. Best money I ever spent!

Re: Excess skin problems

I've been leaning in that direction as well. Guess I shouldn't put it off any longer! Thanks for all the conversation!!!
