Nearly 2 months post op and feel fantastic

Hi All, here I am at nearly the 2 month mark and I have to say I feel fantastic. It is just starting to sink in that I will NEVER EVER get my period again and I am really feeling so light and fantastic about it. I was very fatigued for around 6 weeks after my op but that seems to be coming good now. I have had insomnia and the hot flashes are here hot and heavy but I am realising what they are and just wait for them to pass. The weird thing about a hot flash is that you think everyone is hot, or that the air con is off then you realise that it is only you that is experiencing it, very strange sensation. I only wear layers now, no heavy stuff at all. I am yet to purchase a pair of white pants which I promised myself before the op, they will come and I can't wait. I have noticed that an issue I had with my bladder before op has cleared up. Yesterday I was shocked to realise that I hadn't gone to the loo from 6.30am until around 2.00pm and I had had a coffee in that time, amazing. When I went for my final gyno appointment I asked him if he had done anything to my bladder and he said that when they go in they look for anything that is drooping or sagging and tighten it all up. I have obviously been 're sprung'...lol.. Anyway ladies, I realise that not everyone is feeling as well as I am so I hope that anyone who is suffering will come out the other end very soon. As for HRT I am unable to take that due to family cancer risks so I am just doing what I always did, eating what I always do and it seems to be fine for the moment. All the best ladies

Re: Nearly 2 months post op and feel fantastic

So happy to hear your experience and that everything seems to be going good for you. I also feel the same way (August 22nd,2011 total hysterectomy) even though I'm not quite at the six month mark. Had I known now that this would clear up my bladder issues I would have had one sooner, I guess my fibroids and enlarged uterus was pushing on everything. My doctor has put me on the Elestrin gel which seems to really help with the hot flashes, so far I have only needed to apply one pump a day. I have changed my diet and try to eat healthy and exercise by walking daily, I think that must help quite a bit. Anyway stay well and make sure you rest enough,. Enjoy life and take time to smell the roses. xx

Re: Nearly 2 months post op and feel fantastic

If you feel fantastic at the 2 month mark, you will feel doubly so at 5 months (which is where I am!)

Mind you, I felt well pre-op. and had no real idea I needed a hysto. let alone losing all my "bits". But I needed to (long story) and so I had to go through a bit of pain to get BACK to feeling good again!
But despite the annoyance of the lingering swelly belly at the end of the day, I can do all the exercise I used to and feel completely pain free and energetic.

Good luck to anyone who hasn't come quite far enough yet to share our sense of well-being! Hang in there - it'll happen!
