Does anyone NOT have menopause symptoms???
Tomorrow will be 3 weeks since I had my last ovary removed. I'm expecting night sweats and hot flashes, but haven't had any yet. My MIL told me a friend of hers had a hysterectomy in her 30's and never had any symptoms. She told me it was a breeze and not to worry.
However, I think she must be in the minorty. My question is, is there anyone here who doesn't have their ovaries, who never had menopause symptoms? Or is it just wisheful thinking.

Does anyone NOT have menopause symptoms???
I had breast cancer a few years ago and chemo put me into menopause at 44. The only thing that changed was I no longer got my period. Had my hysterectomy due to uterine cancer last month. My drs all said I probably wouldn't notice any change since my repro organs weren't doing anything anymore, and so far that has been true. Now, I have been on Paxil for several years, because I was freaking out about the cancer diagnosis. Women with breast cancer can't take HRT, and antidepressants are often prescribed instead for menopausal symptoms. In these nearly five years, I've never had a hot flash, night sweat, etc. - really don't feel very different at all. The same is true with women who go through natural menopause - hell for some, nothing at all for others. FWIW, I never had any PMS or cramps or anything in the 30 years I had my period, so there may be some connection.

Does anyone NOT have menopause symptoms???
I know several people who have had a TAH/BSO and never had a problem. I don't understand why some people have such a hard time and some don't. The night sweats/hot flashes have gotten better for me in the past year since my surgery but my mood/depression is still a problem. I guess if you are prone to depression it gets worse with menopause.

Does anyone NOT have menopause symptoms???
I am 4 weeks post op tomorrow.
So far, no symptoms. Praise the Lord. My doc said that I may not have any since I am at that "magical" age when I should have been starting to stop Auntie Flo anyway.
I rejoiced today because my next period would have been due, but is no more!

Does anyone NOT have menopause symptoms???
I am on Zoloft to control my IBS and luckily it controls my menopause symptoms also. I get an occasional heart palp or night sweat, achy joints occasionally but nothing that is a big deal. Vickey

Does anyone NOT have menopause symptoms???
I'm on Cymbalta, an anti-depressant, so maybe that's contributing then. I have started taking aloe vera, green tea extract, wild yam extract, flaxseed and fish oil, plus a multi-vitamin. I've also been taking black cohosh. I think I need to look into black cohosh a little more. Anybody know more about this stuff?
A med friend told me recently that our bodies can only absorb 500 mg of calcium at a time, so it's good to split up your calcium by taking it twice a day instead of all at once.

Does anyone NOT have menopause symptoms???
Antidepressants do have an impact on hot flashes and the mood swings that accompany menopause, so I would think if you were on one it would help. I was on Effexor at the time of my surgery but I still came out of the recovery room, woke up beat red and having hot flashes from day 1 and drenching night sweats. Guess it all just depends on the person. I wonder how bad it would have been had I not been on an AD at the time! Yikes.
I have read that about calcium as well, that you should split the doses. I try to do that but don't always remember to since I'm bad about not eating at a regular time and you should take it with food. The jury is still out with me on the black cohosh. I've been reading a lot about it and I'm a little leery. It sounds like you are doing the right things though with the supplements and everything. When you are fully recovered, exercise will be one of the most important factors in your health, especially if you are not on HRT.

Does anyone NOT have menopause symptoms???
I had my surgery 6 weeks ago today. I'm feeling great and haven't had any symptoms!
What I find is strange is that I've been warm for the last 15 years! Ever since I had my younger daughter I've been wearing sleeveless shirts all winter -- and I live in Cleveland!
All of a sudden it's like somebody removed the little heater that's been running! I went to the mall and wore my coat the whole time!!!
I haven't felt at all depressed or emotional...and there have been a number of things that should have triggered tears in the last few weeks.
I feel odd...but I'm really enjoying it!
