Re: LAVH to TAH

I know the feeling. I was scheduled for a TLH but the surgeon ended up removing the uterus vaginally because of the size. My stitches down there hurt more than incision! Happy healing to you and to all the sisters out there!

Re: LAVH to TAH

Although the method changed, I am really happy that you both had successful surgeries! Now it's time for the healing to begin so that you can experience your better quality of life.

I do not regret having my surgery last year one bit. I hope that you will be as happy as I am with yours.

Take care of yourselves, drink plenty of water, eat plenty of fiber, take your pain meds as scheduled, walk a little each hour that you are not resting, and rest rest rest know that your recovery is a process with some good days and some not so good ones, but you will get through it. I pray that your good ones far out rule the not so good ones. Here's to a successful recovery

Lots of ((HUGS)) to you both

Oh, good, I'm not the only one! *grin* I had a TAH/BSO (scheduled) and was released on the third day after surgery with instructions to take ibuprofen or acetaminophen as needed. When I woke up at home on the morning of Day 4, my incision felt fine, but my back was killing me!

I've got a bit of arthritis in my lower back. Three nights in the hospital bed - softer than mine at home - hadn't done it any favours. Neither did the temporary loss of the stretches and exercises I normally use to keep it happy.

I'm now at Day 24 and I've been having a really easy recovery. My incision looks like someone took a Sharpie and drew a line down my belly - it's not awful-looking at all.

Kick back, relax and remember that when it comes to walks, frequency is more important than duration and speed isn't important at all. Be kind to yourself.
