Spotting 10 weeks post-op Da Vinci

I was told by my doctor that he is among those who now will only use the type of sutures for the vaginal cuff that don't dissolve for 4 to 6 months ! This prevents complications (opening of the cuff). Since the stitches are still in there, 10 weeks post-op, they are pulling, causing occasional light spotting. Does anyone else have this type(0-Maxon and Lapra-Ty) of suture? There is no infection and no odor - just continued discomfort.

No, my cuff was closed with 0-Vicryl, which dissolves in several weeks. However, I too am having discomfort and will ask the doc about that on my upcoming visit.

As far as your type of suture, I am inclined to think that it's not a bad idea at all, since I read that daVinci for some reason has more of a problem with the vaginal cuff than other lap surgeries. A little discomfort is probably a good trade off for a stronger cuff.

Thanks for the reminder that it was done for a good reason. That is really helpful. I do know that the Da Vinci method ( using electrocautery and, therefore, heat) increases the chance that the sutures in the tissue being sewn together will tear through ( due to "thermal spread" from the technique.)

Good luck with your issue. You are lucky to be seeing your doctor. I'm now in another state and don't have access to mine!
