It can take a few weeks for our bladders to settle post op. Being handled during surgery and the irritation of a catheter are a lot for it to handle. You had your cath for a relatively long time so may expect it to take longer. If you don't feel an improvement soon, or if you have fever or pain in your bladder, call your

Re: Bladder feeling unemptied?

I agree with Sugarandspice. I had a Foley for 4 1/2 days and have had to push mine out too. I had a bladder sling put in for cystocele so I wasn't sure if it was from that. It also takes forever to get all the pee out, esp in the mornings. Hope everything is okay for you...I do think it must be normal. I have a Drs apt Tues so I'm going to ask him.

Another thing to add. I have had the foley out for two weeks now and I'm still
pushing urine out. I have a follow up appt. on the 4th so hopefully the dr will tell me it's normal and will get better soon.

Re: Bladder feeling unemptied?

I had foley in overnight and had urtheral irritation, still a little now but now as bad. I know it can take up to a month for the bladder to settle down. I was concerned my IC came back before surgery with all my issues. I went to my Uro last week and he said that we everything going on before surgery he didn't want to even talk IC for at least three months to give my body and everything time to heal. It will settle down.

Try pretending to blow through a straw while voiding. It really helps get the glow going.
