Is it ok to kneel after hysterectomy surgery??

Hi Ladies, I am 11 days post-op and the doctor said I am not allowed to bend. Do you think it is ok to kneel? It is really hard not to bend even with that grabber thing. Thanks!!!

Re: NEED HELP...Is it ok to kneel after surgery??

I can't believe the dr said not to bend! That would be pretty hard. My dr said that it was fine to bend, she didn't tell me not to kneel either. I wouldn't think it would be bad for you unless it caused discomfort, but you could always call and ask. I was really lucky to have a dr that didn't believe in killing me with too many restrictions, her main point was to get back to my normal life as much as possible except heavy lifting and exertion and I'm not supposed to carry a laundry basket down the stairs because she wants me to hold the handrails.

Re: NEED HELP...Is it ok to kneel after surgery??

I was never told not to bend. However, I remember a couple of days after my surgery I dropped the soap in the shower. I started to bend over to pick it up but it hurt so I stopped. I did have lifting restrictions, but as far as bending went it was just....if it hurts, don't do it.

Re: NEED HELP...Is it ok to kneel after surgery??

Kneeling hasn't bothered me.. I am 2 1/2 weeks post op. I did try squatting once and had some pretty significant discomfort when I got up so I would not recommend that!

Re: NEED HELP...Is it ok to kneel after surgery??

The only restrictions I was given were no sex, swimming or baths and no lifting. I did bend slowly and carefully to put my socks on or to put on pants. For me it was clear that squatting was a bad idea. Kneeling may be ok but I think it may hurt getting in and out of the kneeling position. Maybe ask your doctor or try it slowly and carefully and see how you feel. Our bodies usually speak up if we do too much.
