"Queen Mum" is totally against this

My mother and I have always had a rather strange relationship to say the least. I went through 3 c-sections and a gallbladder operation within a 4 year span and she was only here with me for a total of about 24 hours the entire time for whatever reason. I told her the news a few days ago of having to have a hysterectomy and that I would be keeping my ovaries. She is dead set against my having this surgery. She keeps telling me to get other opinions, look for other options, have the "entire" operation since I'm going to have to have the ovaries taken later anyway (her words not mine, I know this isn't true) etc... but from the research I've done there simply is no other option for me because of the extensive scar tissue and the fact that I have multiple large fibroids in the muscle of the uterus, which are causing my periods to get heavier and last longer. I had my blood taken and found that I was a little anemic in between periods(I was told to start iron supplements), so obviously my iron is lower during the 2 weeks (yea 2 weeks) that I bleed every month,,, not sure whether this is a question or venting, but thanks ladies! xoxo

Mothers

I dont know the answer but I do know I never ask my mothers opinion when undergoing surgery / medicine type issues. Sometimes if it is minor I dont even tell her afterwards (eg D/c, hysteroscopy etc) After all she has no medical training so why would she know better than my doctors.

But Getting a second opinion is always wise if you are unsure.

Re the ovaries - I plan to have mine out as soon as I reach menopause, but I wouldnt get my uterus out at the same time just because I was 'open'. Maybe this works in reverse?

Not sure if this helps - but your mother issues strike a cord with me too

Queen Mum,etc

when I first told my mother what I was having done,TVH with A&P repairs, she was appalled. Apparently, this has never happened to anyone in our family before! "That made me feel, rather odd." I gently reminded her that two cousins of mine, one from each side of my family had similar surgeries done for similar problems.
I just know that my comfort level has to improve after this surgery and maybe I'll get my life backand you will also.
