Not hungry post op?

This could be related to my lupus as weight loss/gain is a symptom. Ever since I had surgery. I am NOT hungry (which is a good thing because I need to lose weight). The past two days, I forgot to eat until like 8 at night!!!! I had two cookies around lunch time. Then I was like crap I didn't eat today. So I just made some refried beans, sauce, and cheese.

Thanksgiving Day. I only had one small plate at dinner because I was full. I could NOT handle another plate. There wasn't that much on it to begin with.

From my preop and staple removal appt to my 1st postop appt. I lost 6lbs. I weighed the same from my preop to my staple appt. Probably because of iv fluids and all the water they were making me drink (my urine was very dark, but I know my kidneys are not functioning correctly due to the lupus). So in a week, I lost 6lbs.

I hope it continues. I gained 40lbs in 2 mos due to freaking prednisone. I am hoping being off all the BCPs will help to lose weight too.Just wondering if no one else is hungry or it just doesn't look good.

Re: Not hungry post op?

I'm eating light meals because I know my body needs nutrition to heal. I have no appetite though. You are not alone! I've also been losing between .5 and 1.5 pounds per day. I'm certain it's mostly fluid, as I was really swollen (everywhere - face, hands, feet) when I got home.

Re: Not hungry post op?

Does it last? I would love to lose the 40lbs that I gained in Sept and Oct from prednisone. Then the other weight gained over the years from taking 2 bcps at a time.

Re: Not hungry post op?

I am 4 weeks post op today. I too had no interest in eating for the first couple of weeks. I lost around 7 lbs. I hate to say but the appetite does come back. Just remember to try to eat healthy once your appetite does return. I have gained some back but it was nice for awhile.

I am eating like there's no tomorrow.

I'm chalking it up to all the room I have now in my abdominal cavity.

Re: Not hungry post op?

Ok I am down 10 lbs in the last week and a half. I am loving it. I couldn't lose weight for ANYTHING. I was also on 2 bcps continuously and progesterone like no tomorrow due to severe endo and constant bleeding. I didn't start putting on weight till I was on all these BCPs 5 years ago.

Re: Not hungry post op?

Ive got no appetite and even feel nausious when I think of food at the moment but I have to force some food because Im diabetic and would get into trouble if I didnt eat. I have, however, lost about 8lbs in the last 3 weeks as post op I blew up like a blow fish!

Re: Not hungry post op?

I have lost 13 pounds since the surgery. I am 13 days post op. No appetite really but I am still eating soup and proteins like eggs and tuna so my body can heal. I hope it continues because I can stand to lose more

Re: Not hungry post op?

I have been having 3 or 4 small BMs every day, and I have been feeling a little nauseous and not much of an appetite - I am 9 days post op and just feeling bleh.

I don't know if I've caught a little bug or what, but I went to the Cheesecake Factory today and could barely eat any of my lunch or cheesecake.

ETA I just weighed myself, and I haven't lost ANYTHING, it looks like I've GAINED!!!
