Surgery 2.13.13

Hello Ladies, I just had my hysterectomy yesterday! I was scheduled to have it on the 20th but the partner in my Dr. Office went ahead and did it sooner for me because all the pain I was in. I am wondering what/how you guys relieved some of your gas pain? I had the surgey yesterday. She took my uterus and cervix...and left both overies. Any ideas about gas pain would be greatly apperciated. Or things that you found to help.

Re: Surgery 2.13.13

Congratulations! Hang in there - it gets better!

GasX - regularly, peppermint tea, LOTS of water, herb teas, juice - and walk when you are able. Walking helps things move. A heating pad will help a bit too. Good luck!

I had my surgery on the 12th. Drinking plenty of water, walking, tums, massaging my belly and heating pad has helped with gas pains. I also used a suppositorie laxitive helped also. Hang in there.

Re: Surgery 2.13.13

Walking, herbals, gas-x, stool softener, and my hubby gently rubbing my belly. I was able to stop softeners just over a week out, but stayed on gas-x for about 3-4 weeks.

Re: Surgery 2.13.13

Good luck. I was advised to kept moving around. Walk when I could as soon as I could. Nurses say that if you walk around, gravity will work. Although too much walking too soon is not recommendedThey also gave me some mild laxative or softener which also helped. Keep smiling and it will pass (so to speak)

Re: Surgery 2.13.13

The physio recommended laying on your back with your knees up and rocking very gently from side to side. Might not be possible so soon after surgery though (I know I couldn't manage it)!
