Getting nervous. Ugh!!!

Hi Ladies,
I know I am probably not alone but I have so many questions. I am having the DaVinci Hysterectomy and a sling put in on May 24th. One of my questions is how long is the surgery usually? My doctor said we should be done in like 2 hours. (WOW thats a long time) My 2nd doctor who is going to be doing my sling said his part is only like 5 minutes. (REALLY?) Help...

My other concern is with the sling. He said he will be making 2 small incisions in my hair line and then one in my coochie area to put it in. Anyone (I'm sure you have) ever had this done? He said that he does around 400 slings a year. (Your kidding me)

Also, how is the recovery with the sling and the DaVinvi Hysterectomy? I have already began dreaming about this. Any advice you can give will be appreciated.

Thanks and blessings to you all.

Re: Getting nervous. Ugh!!!

I'm pre-op as well, so it's not like I can give you a first hand account of my experience with DvH yet. There is a section of this site where people tell their stories with specific procedures. Here is the DvH link:

I'm sure you'll find answers to many of your questions there. Good luck!!

Re: Getting nervous. Ugh!!!

I just had Davinci, didn't get a sling though, so can't help you there. DiVinci is precision modern technology and your fortunate to go that route as long as your surgeons are well trained. Recovery however is not the walk in the park they imply though. Been reading posts on hystersisters during recovery because I thought this would be easier. Come to find out, we DaVinci girls have pretty much the same issues as all the other surgery types. My advice is keep reading on hystersisters, and for recovery prepare your home and family the same way the other surgery types suggest. If we get better sooner, great, but better safe than unprepared. This has been rough.

Re: Getting nervous. Ugh!!!

I had both, along with a hernia repair and gallbladder removal 8 days ago. It was my first surgery. Recover has not ben bad. Gas pains were my worst. Gas x helped slot. I also bought stool softener prior and started taking them day 2. I didn't have any problems with constipation. Making my self rest is the hardest, because after day 2/3 I didn't have much pain. Everyone recovers differently. Praying for peace of mind for you and a speedy recovery.
