Fatigue after surgery????

I'm scheduled for a LAVH on 3/29. One of my long-time symptoms of endo is complete exhaustion. Anyone out there who has had a hysterectomy continue to be fatigued after their surgery. I feel like I'm sleeping my life away!! Got my fingers crossed!

Fatigue after surgery????

Hi,

I was somewhat fatigued after surgery. It depends what shape your health was in before surgery and how you do post-op. If you get the rest, eat healthy, and do some exercise you will gradually feel better. It just takes some time for the body to heal and get healthy again. If we are unhealthy for a long time , it will take a bit to get that back.

I am now working with a dr to get some health issues that were going on before surgery that surfaced after my surgery. She has me eating really healthy foods and on supplements. I am not a very patient person, but I am going with it and trying not give up the pursuit of good health.

Once you have your surgery and you heal properly then you will get stronger. Everyone heals differently and at different rates.

Best wishes on your upcoming surgery. I'll be thinking good things for you.

Fatigue after surgery????

You will be tired and fatigued from the actual surgery itself. But....it's a different type of tiredness and fatigue. I was always very tired before and during and after my cycles - until my iron levels returned to normal. I found by post op day #10 that I no longer felt "run down" - still tired yes, but not run down tired. Know what I mean?

When you get home from the castle just make sure you walk some, drink tons of water and sleep a lot the first few days to give your body a chance to heal itself. Take 1000mg of vitamin C daily - if you don't already. Start now and continue afterwards. This will also help your body to heal. Just take it easy and slow and you will slowly get better. I'm 3 weeks post - op and can't remember when I've felt this good - no longer tired or fatigued!

Thanks for your encouragement

Hi SuzyQ23

As my date draws nearer, I keep questioning my decision... and if it will really make a difference. Along with the pain and bleeding I have for two weeks every month, I'm plagued by constant fatigue associated with endo. As I reflect back on the last several years, I haven't had the usual energy I used to have and it's getting worse. Now, I have one day of moderate activity and then need a day of absolute rest. Does it eventually get better after the surgery and recovery process? I'm hoping that I can reclaim my life with the endo gone.

Thanks again for your support. It means a lot!
