April 21st is the day for my HYSTO..Help!
I am going in next week on the 21 of April for a complete hysto. Cervix, ovary (S) etc. I have ando, and endo.
I have had 5 laser op's in the last 3 years, and nothing is helping so I have resorted to this.
I can say for me although I am 31 I do not care for SEX it has not been a great 90% of the time for me because of the pain I have during, and afterwards with it. WIll I enjoy it after this? WIll I still have pain if I have sex?
How long do you need to recover from a hysto for? Are you able to eat a day after the operation?
They are not going to put me on hormones for at least a year to dry out the endo. how will this hurt me>?
WIll I still feel like a woman?
If you have info. please post it to me!
Thanks for your time,
Shallyjean

Hi (((Shallyjean))) It can take awhile to adjust to having a hysterectomy, this is a major operation and a big decision, but I believe you have found the right place for support and information. On HS you'll "meet" many women who have been "there" already as well as your contemporaries and all will glady share their experiences with you.
Also, obtaining further information helps many women cope better particularly earlier on and as a new LIW, you might want, for example, to peruse the pre-op and post-op articles which can be found on the following links:
https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/hsl...s=&forumid=170
https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/hsl...s=&forumid=171
You also might look at "new here?" which you can find by going to the top of the page and looking thru the links under the HS logo.
Many women have had the same questions you've raise and as you already see they will share with you. Of course, please also do not be afraid to ask these questions of your doctor as s/he should know your particular situation well. If you have not had your pre-op visit yet, which usually is devoted to a question/answer type session, please check-out one of the article in the pre-op group which gives a suggested list of some questions to raise.
Please come back often with any question, to vent or perhaps when you may need someone to "listen." I believe you may feel less overwhelmed as you become more informed and see you are far from alone in going thru this operation.
Blessings, peggiesue
