Headaches

I am 4 days post-op and today is Sunday. I had an Laporoscopic Assisted vaginal hysterectomy and was able to to keep one of my ovaries. On Friday, I began waking up with headaches and I mean HEADACHES. Throbbing pain in my head and my heartbeat makes the pain worse in my head. Has anyone else experienced this type of headache and if so, do you have any suggestions. Also, am thinking of going back to work on Tuesday, less than a week since surgery. Am I crazy for doing so?

Re: Headaches

lizshyster,

I'm not going to say that you are crazy , but heading back to work less than one week post-op is VERY early!!! I had the same surgery and didn't go back to work until week 5...and couldn't really make it through a full day until week 6.

Give yourself as much time as you can to heal and recover. Remember that the initial recovery is 2-8 weeks, with full recovery taking up to a year for some.

Please call your about the headaches.

In the meantime...rest, rest, rest and

Re: Headaches

Does your head hurt worse on one side? It sounds like a migraine to me. You should call the Dr. About the headaches and going to work.

There is no way I could have gone back to work 1 week post op. You may feel ok now but week 2 and 3 were pretty tough for me. I waited 6 weeks to go back.

Re: Headaches

Certain pain meds cause head aches, so if you're taking them, keep that in mind. Work a week later?! No way! You'll need the pain meds still and won't be able to stay awake honey!! Rest up!
