LAVH/SO no HRT on May 5th - lower left abdominal pain

Hello sisters,

I had an LAVH/SO and have no HRT. My recovery has been up and down since. I have good and bad days. It seems that one good day brings on two bad ones, as I try to take advantage of feeling good. I still am not allowed to drive though, but that is up at the end of this week, thank goodness.

Today my lower left abdomen (just front, not in back) started throbbing pretty bad, and nothing seems to get rid of it. I'm on Ultracet for another condition, and have also taken ibuprofen on top of that, but it still throbs. I would think the Ultracet would knock it out, but alas, no.

No fever or anything else going on - other than typical menipausal (sp?) symptoms.

Has anyone else had this? Should I worry? I plan on calling my doc if it doesn't stop, but would like to know what I'm in for...

Thanks so much,
-Amy

Re: LAVH/SO no HRT on May 5th - lower left abdominal pain

I had a similar discomfort on the left side (surgery was May 6th, uterus, cervix, ovaries and tubes were removed). At my first post op appointment I shared this issue with my doctor. My pain was on the surface of the skin as well as internal. My doctor suggested that sometimes nerve endings are affected (damaged?) during surgery. He prescribed a pain patch which he told me to wear for 18 hours a day. The patches are super expensive unless your insurance covers meds and I'm not sure if they really work yet. I started wearing them 2 days ago and I guess the pain is a bit better. Sorry i can't be more helpful, I am so scared of, worried and dubious about prescription meds so I'm not sure whether I should recommend this. Its best to discuss this problem with your doctor.

Hope you feel better soon.
