One year post op and mini period still!!

Hello,

I had my surgery on 12/12/12..about a year ago. I was wondering when my mini period will end? I get it every month like clockwork and it lasts about 5 days. Very light. I get all the PMS symptoms especially crapping. I was wondering what has everyone else's experience been? Is this normal?

Re: One year post op and mini period still!!

You will have them until you go into menopause from what I understand as the cervix is a part of the uterus. It is very normal.

Did you keep your cervix? I think it's pretty normal if you did.

Re: One year post op and mini period still!!

More than likely you will continue to get a mini period until you go into menopause. Some people are happy about this as they want to know when they enter menopause. Some people never want to bleed again and therefore had their cervix removed.

Re: One year post op and mini period still!!

I have heard that there is an up to 17% chance that you will continue to have periods if a supracervical is done, which is what I had. I just had it done, on the day I was supposed to start a period. So far, nothing in the way of spotting for this period. But, I wonder what the next one will be like. I normally do cramp a little bit and am wondering how it will all go. But, this is super common, and I'm prepared for it. I can't possibly bleed like I used to! And thank you, Lolabeth! Thinking about knowing about menopause is a really positive way to look at it.

Re: One year post op and mini period still!!

I have two co workers who kept their cervix. 1 had mini periods for 3 months and the other for a year and then they just stopped altogether. I have had 2 mini periods lasting three days. I only saw blood (darkish brown)when wiping both times. I hoping it goes away eventually.

Shejay, thanks for the info. I didn't even realize that this type of thing was an option...a few periods and then nothing.
