TAH Massage incision scar ???

Just wondering if it would be beneficial to massage my incision 4weeks plus po? Thanks

You need to check that one with your doc, Heidi. The tissues underneath are still healing.

My own personal experience was I started applying a shea butter cream gently when the incision was truly healed externally. I was also recently told to try these scar treatment patches, which look like a large silicone Band-Aid. They stick onto the skin, you can leave them on for 12 hrs at a time, they can wet and you can remove them, wash them and reapply for up to 7 days. I just started using them but a friend who had a mastectomy around the same time as my hysterectomy (June) swears by them to help the scar fade. I think you can find them at any pharmacy. See if those are something you might like to try.

I tried massaging mine very gently at about 6 wks to see if it would help the bump I have above my incision. All it did was make it ache! So I've not done it again and am leaving it to do its own thing
