3 weeks post op...can I take a bath yet?
I had a tah/bso on the 23rd and I would love to take a bubble bath. I shave my legs in the bath tub and have only ( be prepared this is gross) shaved them with the help of my dh only once since surgery. Is it still too soon to take a bath?

I wouldnt either take a bath unless your doctor said it was ok, my doctor told me no baths for 4-6 weeks, this is to avoid an infection, showers are better for now...I had my DH or my DD help me to shave, dont worry about if you are not able to shave as often, and dont try to do it yourself since bending is a big
relax and try to have a good, smooth, and uncomplicated recovery....

3 weeks post op...can I take a bath yet?
Hi,
I feel for you! The first thing I asked my doctor at my two week checkup was when I could take a bath. He told me no baths for 6 weeks! I was flabbergasted and tried to haggle with him on this but he was adamant! I'm sorry for you because I LOVE my baths so I know what you're going through. A few days ago a woman posted on here that she took a bath about 2 or three weeks post op and ended up getting an infection, so I think it's best to wait.
Hang in there and know that others are feeling your pain.

Hi thirtynineforev!
I had the same surgery you did and was not restricted from bathing at any time post-op. I assume I could have taken a bath the minute I got home from the hospital...if only I could have managed to climb in and out of the bathtub. I was way too stiff and achy for that!
Did you receive any written post-op instructions upon your release from the hospital? I did...and the only thing the paper said I couldn't do was vacuum and have intercourse.
Like the others said, if you are unclear as to your medical provider's instructions, it's best to call the clinic and ask.

Re: 3 weeks post op...can I take a bath yet?
I hear what you are saying... I sooooo want a nice hot bath (always my go to relaxing tx for stress and backaches) but my doc was adamant that no baths or sex until my 6 week check up has confirmed I am healed. AND- I really want to get a clean bill of health so I am waiting. As for shaving, I tried that too but what I have found more helpful is the spray on Neet for sensitive skin- found it in the shaver aisle at Target. I wore my grannie panties in the shower to assure nothing hit my incision but am so very happy that my legs are smooth. After, my hubby rubbed me down with lotion and oil. My skin feels 10 times better after this and my legs are not gross now. I found with shaving that it was pulling me and hurting a little bit.
