So stressed I gave myself hives!

I'm in countdown mode now..just 2 more weeks away from surgery. I have a ton of things on my plate that I need to do both at home and at work before taking off. I've been stressing so much that I gave myself a bad case of hives. So now I'm on prednisone and some stronger anithistamine to knock it out. I'm worried it will happen again as it gets closer. How the heck do you relax? I guess I need some stress relievers....

Re: So stressed I gave myself hives!

Oh no. Yes, I'd say you need a stress-relieving/anxiety drug prescribed to you to get through the next couple of weeks.

Re: So stressed I gave myself hives!

You will be fine. I have dermatographism and it did not affect me whatsoever. I did, however, explain this to my anesthesiologist the day of my pre-admission. He was excited to see me write my name on my forearm with my fingernail. Hey, whatever gets you off! Look at it this way-they will take extra precaution with you and perhaps watch you more closely than normal. Hang in there, you are in the worst part of this whole ordeal right now, trust me. You can do this and you will be fine and feel very relieved once it is over and you can start healing! I am sending you warm, peaceful thoughts as you wait and know that I am praying for you, too!

Re: So stressed I gave myself hives!

Think of all the things you have to do as a good thing!! I was the same way... running around like a mad woman at home and at work. But it was a great distraction! Get lost in that and just keep plowing ahead. Surgery will be here and over before you know it. Sending you good thoughts and hugs!

Re: So stressed I gave myself hives!

God is the only reason I got through it. I talked to him alot and asked for peace over the surgery. I was nervous once I go to the hospital but fine after talking to my surgeon and my preacher came and prayed with me. Prayers and hugs for you!
