Help and Support
Hi all, this is the first time I have posted, but have been here for a while, just reading. I have endometriosis and my doctor has recommended a total hyst. I am in tremendous pain, more so during my period and have been suffering for a while now. I have been going back and forth with this, as far as getting the hyst. I have an appointment with the gyn thursday to talk about it. I am so sick of the pain that I am seriously thinking of having this done but I am scared. I am 46 years old. I would like to hear from some positive (or negative) women about their hysterecomy so that I can feel a little better about having this done or not having it done???. Any comments or input would be much appreciated. Thanks Joanne

Hi Joanne- I am going to the castle June1. Not for endo, but the fruit basket variety. I am also 46 and didn't think twice when the doc said hyster. After reading post op info, most women are thrilled with their choice. Take yourself out of misery. But make sure you ask your gyn alot of questions. Mine spent 90 minutes talking to me and I felt at ease about the entire process.
Good luck!

Help and Support
Hi Joanne, and Welcome!
I'm sorry to hear that you haven't been feeling well. You mentioned that you have been doing some reading -- have you read any of the Princess Stories? You'll find them in the More Hyster Sisters pull-down menu at the top of this page. This site has a ton of information, and there are also books about hysterectomies at the Hyster Sisters Store. It's worth your while to educate yourself about this as much as possible, so that, in partnership with your doctor, you make the best decision regarding your health. It sounds to me like the quality of your life has been seriously compromised, and if you have the oppportunity to make your life better, it stands to reason you should do so -- whether it takes having a hyst, or another option that may work for you.
Good luck with your gyn appointment! Keep us posted, and come here anytime for us to assist you however we can!
