do I have a choice?
Hi, Here's my background, I'm 32 and have been married for 11 years to my awesome husband. We have no kids, and never planned to. I will be honest and say im very overweight as well and because of the pain I can't do much of anything to lose it.
I have always had horrible periods. I would lose so much blood I had to wear a towel like a dipper on day two over pad. I also has huge blood clots that would pass and extreme pmdd.
So back in July I stared to have the urge to pee Evey 10 -15mins, all day and night. I went into doc and they were pretty sure it wasn't a uti so I was given an transvaginal ultrasound. They found a my left ovary was large and had a complex cyst on it. We waited a month and went back to check, it had grown slightly. I took a CA- 125 and came back at a 89. I was sent to an oncologist. He said since my age and no history I didn't have cancer but he ordered another ultrasound. That ultrasound showed the mass was now the size of an orange. The doc I was going to wanted to remove everything, but at last min changed mind and wanted to do shots. At this point the pain was horrible, and my abdomine and left leg were complete numb. The e.r. doc thought I was cause cyst ruptured but yet another ultrasound showed it was same. They then ordered a ct scan and saw the mass was larger. I found new doctor who was willing to operate on me to remove ovary. On Jan 27 I had a laproscopic, but doc was unable to remove ovary. She explained I had such bad adhesions that my ovaries were now fused together and flipped upside down on utrus. She said she couldn't even find utrus due to adhetions. Everything is attached to bowels and bladder as well as gallbladder. She said if I wanted ovary removed it has to be an abdominal hysterectomy and everything needs to come out, minus the bowels and bladder.
Sorry for long post, but my question is... Do I just tough it out and deal with the pain. I can't have sex cause the pain is so horrible. Is this something that if left alone could go away or despite the risks is surgery my only real option? Thank you go anyone who responds.

Re: do I have a choice?
This will only get worse....I have adhesions also. .But as far as I know my bladder uterus and abdomen are stuck together...And when the doc examined me he said my uterus is stuck in place to where it won't move at all..When I asked if it'd stay the same or get worse the doc said it would get worse....So my advice would be to have this surgery..You will be so happy you did after you have healed and no longer have this pain....

Re: do I have a choice?
I agree, but ultimately it is your decision. I'm assuming the 'shots' didn't shrink the cysts... so it will only get bigger and/or burst - which could cause more issues... also the adhesions to your bladder and bowels can continue to cause damage to them... you don't want to add bowel removal and bladder surgery on top of everything else. Just my opinions of course... I am extremely thrilled I had mine and I wan't going thru nearly 1/2 as much as you. I wish I would have done it sooner... my quality of life is so, so, so much better.

Re: do I have a choice?
First off I'm so sorry to read what you are going through.
I say you always have a choice but a Hysterectomy sounds like it would help a lot in your case. I agree with the above poster you don't want to add bowel and bladder to the mix or have things get more severe and worse.
Good luck!
