Hi, everybody! For the next few weeks (my surgery is March 3) I'll be checking in regularly, and postop I'll be here whenever I can handle sitting at the computer. It's so great to have this site available! I only found it the other day and have learned a lot!
Things seem to have moved so quickly. I had a physical less than 2 weeks ago, an ultrasound 2 days later, and my gyn follow-up 2 days after that. My surgery was scheduled right away. It's not an emergency--I have large fibroids with a history of heavy bleeding--but now that it's been diagnosed, I'm noticing more and more symptoms! Backache, for one--and I can actually feel that something is there. It's getting uncomfortable to sit for long periods, and there's some discomfort during sex too. (not to mention the fact that I'm having trouble zipping my britches these days!) So I'm anxious to get rid of it.
My gyn took an endometrial biopsy to check for hyperplasia (what a picnic THAT was--not!!) and I'm still waiting on the results. If it's negative, I'll have a TAH and keep my ovaries. If it's positive, the gyn said we'd have to discuss the surgery further--I'll take whatever God sends, but fewer complications would make me happier!
My darling husband of nearly 29 years has already notified his work that he'll be away 2 weeks to care for me (his equally darling boss's reaction was "What? Only 2 weeks?"--I love that man). A sister who's a SAHM lives a mile from here, and my mother is talking about coming over to take care of me as well, so my support network is in place. I've loved finding all the helpful preparation hints! Maybe a new nightie or two and new sheets are in my immediate future.
Thanks again for being here. I know it's going to help a lot as the time grows closer and my anxiety gets worse!
