Post op appt...bladder infection!

Ugh...I had my post op this morning. Just as I suspected, I have a bladder infection. My pain is where my bladder is, and I'm peeing more than usual. He did a quick urine sample and it looks positive. He has to send it to the lab for a culture, but is starting me on antibiotics today. My stomach issue isn't much better with no appetite and diarrhea. Hoping the antibiotic will help anyway. I'm exhausted just driving there, waiting and coming home. I had my 9 yo daughter with me, and she was great, but now I'm home with all 3 kids and I'm ready to crawl under a rock.

Post op appt...bladder infection!

Know how you feel. My surgery was 1/14/08. 3 days after surgery I was having issues, so back to the doctor and test were run and I ended the day with a catheter for 7 days. That was removed and I went back for a check up Tuesday and was very concerned because of bladder pain so back on antibiotics I go.

Are you having trouble dealing late in the afternoon? Last two nights I have wanted to take everyones head off. even the normal level of activity is driving me nuts. I don't know if it is the pain and by the day I am over it or what!!!
I called the doctors office today to see if there is something I can do before the family puts me out.

Good Luck to you,

Libby

Be careful with this infection. My test and culture turned out negative and I ended up dealing with a pelvic infection. Make sure you are in contact with your doctor's office. Bactrim didn't touch my infection...had to go on some other med (can't remember name) but it was 500mg of something or other.

Make sure you are taking time for you!

Post op appt...bladder infection!

I had my vaginal hysterectomy on Jan 21. I felt fine the first couple of days and then I started having very bad pressure when I needed to urinate. Then it felt like I was having contractions down there. It got to the point of having the pressure but not being able to urinate. At my Post Op Appt on Tuesday I had a bladder infection too. With Bladder Spasms and they hurt! Dr. put me on an antibiotic called Macrobid and something to relieve the bladder spasms called Pyridium. It took about two days of taking the meds but I'm feeling a lot better today. One of the medicines causes your urine and BM to be orange. I know I got discouraged due to the bladder infection causing me to feel so bad. My upper legs was achy and my back was killing me. I hope you get to feeling better!

Thanks! I sure hope so too! Quite the ordeal going on and I'm not getting anywhere! Still in pain and yet things keep coming up negative.
