Total abdominal Hysterectomy last week

I am one week post op today. I am not feeling too bad. I have actually been doing quite well. I had the surgery late Friday afternoon and kind of woke up in my room around 6pm. I was so groggy and tired I slept right through till next day.

When I finally was awake enough to ask some questions to hubby, I found out that they had some complications. My bladder, bowel and ovaries were all stuck together. Turns out I had endometreosis. She is waiting for pathology to verify. They had a internist or urologist also take a look at my bladder to see if all was fine. He put a stent in temporarily and removed it after surgery.

The next day I was up and tried sitting which I was able to do successfully. I was all hooked up so I could not walk yet. To be honest with you I don't remember everything in order. After they removed the catheter I was able to go to the bathroom and pee. I also was able to go for walks along the hallways., Moving was not so bad because of the bed which I took full advantage of. I was becoming more and more mobile. I had my pain meds and was doing well. I did not feel like eating much at the start. I could only eat a few teaspoons and I felt like I was full up.

I was able to go home on the third day. By the fourth day I was able to have a poop. That was not easy but is better now. The secret for me was the prune juice, lots of fluids and fruit. I also was given softners.

I had my staples out yesterday at the OB/GYN on the 6th day. My wound is doing well. No bleeding, infection or problems.

One thing I might have done wrong is trying to rush things. I have pushed and lifted a few things that I should not have. Today I feel a little more tired and my back is sore. Probably from being in bed. I had this before Hysterectomy. One thing I have noticed is I seem to feel better emotionally and mentally. Also no more leaking of the bladder. No pressure! That is awesome. Over all I think I am doing pretty good. I look forward to seeing what else has improved with time.

I have lupus and Fibromyalgia so any change is goo.
