TAH: April 18 is the day.

Hello! I finally got my surgery date, 4/18. TAH due to 20-wk pregnant-sized uterus secondary to fibroids. I never thought this would happen to me. I am 36, G1, P0. I tried acupuncture, macrobiotics, etc. They just kept growing. I am having a lot of sadness. I work in a midwifery clinic, and this has been both healing and depressing. I am so grateful for this site. Thank you all very much.

My date is 4/9 and it cant come soon enough! Ive tried acupuncture for the pain which didnt help, but it did help for the constant nausea. This site is a wealth of info! Have you started any surgery prep yet? I just started picking up little things I want that will make me feel good like shower gel, candles small stuff like that.

This is a very emotional surgery, and it is normal to be sad and in mourning. I am over 10 months post op and still dealing with this. It is a process, and just takes much time.

Know that it is okay to be sad. You are loosing your uterus, something that has made its presence known to you (for better or worse) for decades, and now that is being taken from you. This is much different than loosing an appendix. Of course you are upset. And working in a midwifery would also intensify these feelings of loss.
