dazed and confussed

hello hystersisters,

I am headed to the castle on the 16th of Sept. I was just told on tuesday that a hysterectomy was the only thing that would take away the terrible pain and 8 day mentral i was having. Was going to have a d&c to help the complex hyperplasia but Dr said that it would not get ride of the pain cuz i have had a lot of pain since the birth of my second child 17 yrs ago,she was 9lb 1oz at birth and since periods have been terrible. But much worse the last few years.

hadn't been to a OBGYN for about 14 yrs just living with it. I know that was bad.

I have just found this web sight and think that it is wonderful I have so many questions about what to expect at the pre-op apointment to how long is sergery and what to expect after surgery.

please send me any info you have for me i only have two weeks to go and already the feathers are coming out (chicken)

cluck cluck

Aw Teresa you came to the right place! I'm glad you found us before your surgery... please ask us anything, we're only too glad to share experiences and lots of s!

I won't scold you for not seeing your gyn for so many years... I'm sure you've done that enough yourself. I'm just glad you're finally getting this taken care of. You'll meet lots of great women here who are going through the same thing.

Make sure you read the great pull-downs with lots of hints about what to take to the hospital, what to tell your family, what you can and can't do post op, etc... and ask all the questions you want.

Don't worry. We're all a little , but as I'm sure you'll hear over and over on this site, the waiting is the worst part. I'll look forward to seeing you over in Post Op!

s,
-Linda

One day at a time.

I hope that the phrase one day at a time doesn't some stupid but it truly is what helped me get through all of this. I had a TAH on August the 8th. Leading up to the surgery I was an emotional wreck. Just stay posted on this site and know that even though the recovery takes time you do feel better each day. I don't regret my decision. I was having such problems it is just that it takes time to get used to a different phase of our lives. I will be thinking of you. Good luck. By the way the waiting was the hardest part.

take deep, cleansing breaths.......

Hi there-I know the stress you're feeling right now. I'm going to the castle in October and I'm starting to feel a little less upset about it-for the moment, anyway!!! It's fear of the unknown, going under anesthesia, concern that the dr might have to do more work/remove more than expected, loss of work time, extended recovery, etc. etc. The list goes on.......

I have talked to so many women of all ages. Some had their TAHs as many as 22 years ago, and some as recently as 2 weeks ago. Not one of them regrets the decision. I know I won't, either. Psychologically speaking there's this little side of me that will miss part of my "womanhood". I'll be turning 36 years old two weeks after my surgery and that's still pretty young. But on the flip side, I'll be able to do so many more things next summer with my daughters at a moment's notice. Before I knew I was going to have this done we scheduled a cruise for Christmas in December-who knew that I'd have one less thing to consider in making the trip more comfortable????? By that time whether I finally lose 20 pounds or not-I'm wearing a bathing suit every day....!!!!!!

So you don't need to focus on a lot of negatives, there's good stuff in it for you, too...! The best thing is to take care of yourself and do what's best for your health right now.

I hope this helps.
