male doctor visit tomorrow and nervous
A note to Kristi, I just read your post and I wanted to ask you, was it weird asking your doctor about orgasms? When I had my 8 week check up, (I had some problems after surgery so I needed more check ups) he had asked if I had sex yet and I said yes then he asked me if I had an orgasm. I told one of my friends what he asked and she thinks that it is totally weird that he would ask me that, she thinks he is weird. Which makes me feel funny about talking to him about stuff, I don't know why. So its not out of the ordinary for drs to talk to you about that kind of stuff, right? Please reply.

gonzo~~~No, it wasn't really weird asking him about orgasms. I know he knows I was concerned about everything still "working", and he has an awesome bedside manner, so he is really easy to talk to. He really puts me at ease. When we were first discussing my surgery, we talked in his office, not the examination room, (before he examined me) for about an hour. Then after he examined me, we talked for another hour about what to do to fix me. He showed me a power point thing on his laptop that showed what my problem was, and how to fix it. He is just a wonderful doctor. I don't think it is necessarily out of the ordinary for them to ask those questions. My dr. also told me that if I am having any trouble in the sex area, give him a call. You know, can't do it, bleeding, severe pain, etc. I hope this answer has helped you. How long have you known your doctor? Have you always been uncomfortable with him? Let me know if I can answer any more questions you have, ok? Good luck.

Did you ask him how much DH paid him to tell you that??

He's a gynocologist for crying out loud. He has probabaly heard it and see it all before.
I find some female gyns to be more intimidating than males, but they (females) can often relate more.
Don't worry, just be prepared with questiions. Maybe write them down and hand it to him.
Good luck!

male doctor visit tomorrow and nervous
Hi Kristi, thanks for replying. I have been going to the same ob-gyn for about 17 years but have only seen this particular dr for about 4, my other one moved out of state. I have always felt pretty comfortable around him but when he was asking me about sex and orgasms I was shocked and didn't know what to say. Funny! I still am having some pain even though its been 8 weeks. They have done 2 ultrasounds and can't find out why I am still having pain. Are you feeling back to normal yet? Have you had any problems? After about 4 weeks, I lifted something I shouldn't have and ended up in the emergency room bleeding quite bad. The pain on my lower left sign started after that. Weird. What could that be?

I have had both male and female doctors. There were good ones, and bad ones, but it had nothign to do with their gender. I am also talking Gynechologists here...
Try not to worry about it, and don't think of him as a man, he is your Doctor, if only for a day... a human, for sure, but still, a doctor.
