4 days post-op - sore incision site/burning sensation?

Re: 4 days post-op - sore incision site/burning sensation?

Yes, I too had a TAH, and yes, it burns/stings. If your doctor prescribed you meds, use them as prescribed. During the first week DON'T chase pain, get on top of it. It will help with recovery.

I'm glad your mom and DH are caring for you. The first two weeks, for me, were the toughest. Tears, frustration, pain, not sleeping. Each person is different, so I hope your recovery will be good. Just be easy on you. I am 23 days post-op and am now at the lightning bug and burning stage. Burning feeling occurs mainly if I wind up sneezing, coughing or laughing, not at rest. So there is a light at the end of the tunnel that ISN"T a train.

Rest Well!

Hi, I had a TAH/BSO on 4/4 and yes, I too have burning sensation, especially when walking OR sitting. I did ask the nurse before discharged from the hospital and this is normal.

Re: 4 days post-op - sore incision site/burning sensation?

i had the burning sensation only in week one. it wasn't along my vertical incision but to the left. i mentioned it to the specialist who then told me that my left ovary had to be removed. the burning subsided in the middle of the second week. for the first couple of weeks, take the pain meds religiously at the correct intervals so that the pain doesn't get a a chance to build up. it'll get better so hang in there
