How LOng?

hi there ladies.
I'm having a TAH keeping ovaries. How long should the operation take? I was told one hour. Is that true?

The amount of time is "average" -- the surgery itself might take one hour, but the preparation time and "coming out of it" time all add up to about 2.5

The amount of time for your surgery depends on what the dr finds when they open you up -- for example for women who suffer from endo, there is a lot of endo that has to be removed, and it is hard to calculate how long that takes.

Ask your dr how long s/he thinks the surgery will take.

How LOng?

Hi, I had a tah/bso and the time for me was about 2 1/2 hours from start to finish. Like Cheryl said, it depends on you, your dr and what all needs to be done.

Best wishes.

Don't ya just love "it depends" as an answer? But it's true -- it really does depend on lots of factors.

My surgery was supposed to take about 2 hours (including a panniculectomy where they took out a roll of fat) but it ended up taking a little over 3 hours because my bladder was extensively adhered to the uterus (in large part due to scar tissue from my previous c-sections), so it took longer to get the two organs apart.

And of course this helps explain why I have had to pee every 1-2 hours for years! No wonder -- wherever my uterus went, so went my bladder!!! LOL
