Heavy lifting restriction is not optional!

Hello fellow pre-op sisters! I would like to update you about my experience so far. I should have really embraced and accepted the weight restrictions put forth by my doctor, but I am stubborn and independent, so I haven't been listening to the 10 lbs or less weight limit (I did for about 4 days). You must really realize that taking it easy isn't always easy. I have been lifting my dog that weighs 25 lbs onto the bed. She is my baby, and while I shouldn't do it, I still do. I can honestly tell you that your recovery will likely be slower and more painful if you follow my lead. I bring this up because I know there are a lot of us out there who have and adore pets, and they ain't all teacup chihuahuas either! I also, know that we like to do our own thing and dont like to ask or need help. As a result, I have experienced pain, swelling, bleeding and have felt badly on too many occasions. Also, my surgery was right before the Christmas holidays, so the intense shopping, running from store to store shopping, and carrying heavy bags really did a number on me the next day! Ask your partner, child or someone else to help. I wouldn't have had (and neither would you) this surgery if it wasn't supposed to help you feel better, so don't go making yourself feel worse! I pledge to adhere to this from here on out and I hope that you learn from my mistakes as you start your process! Good luck to you!
