So sleepy 5 days post hysterectomy

I am 5 days post op from RALH and have such a hard time staying awake. I slept all night, woke up at 8 and by 10am I couldn't keep my eyes open. I'm only taking one oxy a day right now and that's before bed to help me sleep. I can understand the sleepiness when I was on pain pills, but I'd like to make it more than 2 hours. I fall asleep reading too. Guessing this is normal but how long does it last? I feel like a slug.

Hi, you are so early into recovery & your body needs rest. When you wake up, fit in some walking, stay well hydrated, be sure youre eating healthy lite meals & snacks. Rotate w rest.

Medications, your body has been thru a lot from surgery & hormones which all contribute. Each week you should notice some improvement. If you over do it, a set back can throw you back to fatigue..

I keep wondering how it is physically possible to sleep so much! I am 6 days post op, and yesterday was the first day I went to hours between naps. Did get in my first good walk, though, and then guess what? Three hour nap!

But less pain each day, so I think that's a good trade off.
