Light @ the end of the tunnel
Finally, I am going to have some relief . I went to a wonderful new doctor for a second and opinion and fell in love with him immediately, he is very open and honest without being cruel. He was recommended by a friend and I'm glad I went. He really listened to me and answered all my questions, and then told me all the options available to me. After, much discussion we have decided on the LAVH, I am now waiting for a date. This also told me something the other one did not, he said he is 90% sure I have Adenomyosis (which I had never heard of).
I feel like some one has just lifted a giant weight off my shoulders, I did the happy dance all the way home.
Now the waiting begins. Does anyone have any advice on things that I should get in order before going to the castle. My DH is wonderful he thinks we should hire a housekeeper for when I am off, I personally did not think it was necessary. My daughter is home for college and I'm sure she will be a big help, my son on the other hand agrees with DH.
Looking forward to being pain free........

LIW for LAVH
Hi Quetepi
Just wanted to let you know I had a LAVH on 5/31 and I felt great. I was ready for some light housework by the second week. No trouble walking, or sitting. I did kick my feet up and watch several old movies that first week and drank lots and lots of water. I really felt good and you will too. I think if any woman can do the LAVH she should go for it. I went back to work last Monday just two weeks post op. I feel fine. I'm back to all my prior activities except for jogging and weight training and of course sex. I am really looking forward to that. I think the biggest problem I encountered as far as pain was my bladder had spasms when it would fill. Doc said it was normal since you have to separate the uterus from it and it only lasted about a week. That was my only pain. I was on very little pain med in the hospital and after getting the catheter out I really felt good. Except for having to get up every hour to empty the old spasm bladder. But I only needed the nurse for that once after that I just got up on my own. I was so worried and scared about this surgery. I have never had a major medical procedure before other than giving birth. This was really a pleasant surprise. Best Wishes to you. Sounds like you have a great family support system. You will do great and wonder later what all the fuss was about.

Soooooo Frustrated
Good for you, Quetepi!!
I am so glad that you found a doctor you trust and that there is a plan now to get rid of your pain once and for all!
I just wanted to comment on your belief that you are a big baby when it comes to pain.
I suffered for years with my period, and later all month long. There were times that I would roll into a ball and feel like I'd rather die, it hurt so bad. No one around me really understood and I have always thought that I just had a low pain threshold since I've never had any other kind of pain to compare it to.
I am 17 days post-op (TAH) and nothing to do with this surgery has come even close to the pain that I used to experience pre-op. It turns out that I am not a Wuss at all.
No-one can determine the truth about your pain but you. It sounds like, by going for another opinion, you've already begun to figure that out!
Good luck, Quetepi.
