Got Bowel Prep Instructions (heeheehee)

As March 13 gets closer and closer I find that I am absolutely GIDDY about getting this thing out of the way! I have an excellent positive attitude about it - I take time every day to "visualize" a fast recovery that will allow me to get back to my regular activities in record time. I've fought this for 9 years and tried every possible alternative with only temporary results. Have seen my current GYN for 10 years and she is the best ever and during my last visit in Jan she sat me down and told me my life as it has been for the past 18 months is NOT life at all - basically I have 3 or 4 days a month when I am not bleeding. I finally gave in and just over a week from now it will be OVER!!!!! WOOOOOHOOOOOO!

But anyway in today's mail I received the paperwork, including bowel prep instructions. I have to be on a liquid diet for 2 days prior to surgery, take 2 doses of Dulcolax, and give myself 2 enemas!

I live alone in a one bedroom, 1100 sf house. Mom and Dad insist on making the 13 hour drive to be with me. They want to arrive next Sat (surgery is Mon) and I am laughing at the thought of myself kneeling on the floor of my bathroom doing enemas while they are watching 60 minutes in the next room! Honestly I love them so much but surgery is nothing compared to what it will be like to have them here for 2 weeks until I can drive . . . Mom had her hyst 35 years ago and so she is the authority on the subject - she doesn't understand when I tell her I will only be in the castle overnight and certainly doesn't understand that I plan to work from home beginning my second week post-op. And once I have the OK to drive I will be back in the office on at least a part time basis! I plan to be back in the gym by 4 weeks for mild cardio and back to weight training by 8 weeks.

I am so excited and I can't wait!

Oh gosh, you had me laughing about the enemas and 60 Minutes - What a visual!
Your plans are very optimistic and I hope that you will have the very smoothest of recoveries. But, please be careful, follow your drs orders, listen to your own body. Rest when you need to and try not to overdo. Let your parents pamper you as much as possible. 2 weeks isn't really that long

best wishes.
