I had my pre op last Friday and I was told to expect to be in from 5 - 7 days depending on how I am after the op. It seems to be different here in the UK though as everyone seems to come home realy quickly on this forum! Not sure if longer is a good thing or not, I know I am not looking forward to it anyway

Tastytart,

Hope all goes well tomorrow, will be thinking of you. I am dreading next week but want to get it over with at the same time. It is good that you will be allowed home so soon, you lucky thing. I am none too keen on the old hospital stay I have to say.

Hospital Stay

My doctor told me two to four days, depending on how well I was recovering. I had my surgery on a Friday and was released on Sunday after two days of normal BP, pulse, and temperature. If you run a fever or if any of your vitals are a little out of whack, they will keep you longer. Two or three days is probably average. Different doctors may also have different preferences. Some feel that you will rest better in the hospital without feeling tempted to cook, care for the family, or keep house, so just try to enjoy the pampering.

Hi

It depends on what country you live in and which surgery you have! I was booked for 5 days (SAH) but ended up with 8 days due to complications.

Wishing you all the best, and my UK Sisters too with their up and coming surgeries.
