Black & Blue Swelly Belly

Hi Sisters,

Had a TAH/BSO on the 17th of July. Back home on July 22nd. I needed 4 units of blood and lots of morphine. Anyway, does anyone have an extremely bruised belly? From the belly button right across the entire abdomin where the skin would hang. Those of us that had c-sections would know what I mean about the overhang. I have popped more staples that I can count and my belly is so heavy and sore and black and purple really bad. I never saw anything like this. I am suppose to see the doctor in the morning to remove the rest of the staples but am I ever sore. I have been running a low grade temp of 101 -102 degrees and extremely constipated no matter what I do. Anyone else experience this? It hurts like a son of a gun. Sleeping is near impossible because if I move a certain way - I ooze. Sorry to be so graphic. Anyone else experiencing this? Hugs to all. Susan

Hi susan,
You sound just like i did, many hugs to you. ..I had my bruises for about a week or so. I used to brag to the kids about winning the biggest bruise award. I am 5wks out today and i still have that horrible hanging heavy belly, my dr told me today that it is from inflamation of your internal organs from undergoing major surgery. Told me it could hang around..excuse the pun....lol....for about 6mths or so depending on how extensive your surgery was.
I has stitches so i cant even imagine what the staples must feel like, and if you have a fever be very careful of infection, it is opne of the first signs. I got an infection in my incision and it wasnt pleasant.
So my thoughts are with you and make sure you take care of yourself....

Yes - I was extremely bruised, so much so that I am still bruised (and I had my surgery on July 11th).

All of your other symtoms are on my doctor's "give him a call immediately, or go to the emergency room immediately list.

Please let us know how your visit with the doctor turns out.
