home now!!

hi guys!! i'm home now....had surgery wed. dec 28th home saturday....kids want to be on me and i can't seem to have a bm any suggestions? trying to get some rest and walk around to try and pass gas it really hurts talk to you gals later

I, too, had horrible gas pains. Used Gas-X and walked around the house. I had a cup of Smooth Move Tea at bedtime four days after my surgery and had a BM the following morning. I've also continued taking stool softeners daily. It's now been 4 weeks and I finally feel like my intestines are beginning to return to normal. Be patient; it seems our bowels are really affected by the anesthesia and the surgery.

I had a partial hysterectomy with just my uterus taken out on Dec. 1,2005. I went back in about 12 days later and had my gallbladder taken out after a very painful evening with gallstones(didn't know I had them). I was not able to have a bw either after my gb sugery. The nurse gave me a tip. I t worked for me right away. Drink half prune juice and half 7up. Heat it up a little so it will help with the passing through the intestines. I was also told the day after my hyst not to use a straw because it causes gas. When you swallow you also inhale alot of air. I immediately stopped an did not experience any gas in my abdomen. I am healing pretty well. With both surgeries I only stayed in the hospital 2days. I will be retuning to work on the 27 of this month. YUCK! It's been nice to stay at home. I hope you start feeling better soon and don't forget to walk as much as you can and REST, REST, REST!

Hi, welcome back. My dr said to take milk of magnesia if after 4 days I hadn't gone. I needed it and all else went fine! Good luck for your recovery.
