Unable to tolerate HRT/have Fibro/CFIDS also

I had a hysterectomy in 1987. Took Premarin until a few years ago and added testosterone injections the last few years of HRT. Stopped HRT when all the scare came out about HRT and cancer. Now I am needing HRT and can't tolerate it. Each time I try to take anything I have severe vaginal pain and rectal pain and breast pain and internal organ pain. It is crazy and very frustrating. I also have fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome and wonder if this has something to do with the intolerance for hormones even though HRT replacement is the main treatment for these illnesses now. Anyone out there gone through this and had any luck at resolving this issue to be able to take HRT. I am miserable.

How long did you try using the HRT? The reason I asked is because it typically takes up to 6 weeks to get the full benefit from HRT, and it has taken me even longer at times. Sometimes, when we are first starting to use HRT, the symptoms of our bodies adjusting to it can feel like it is not working right. This happened twice with me.

The first time was when I was estrogen depleted. I had no measurable estrogen. When I first began treatment, my breasts became very painful, but my Dr assured me that it was just the tissue adjusting to getting what it was needing. Sure enough, after about 3 months, the pain and irritation subsided. Breast pain could also just be a symptom of imbalance, and sometimes a little added progesterone is all that is needed.

The second time, was when I was experiencing severe vaginal dryness. I started using Estring and for the first two months, experienced cramping and rectal pain. This too has subsided. I honestly thought I was having a bad reaction to it, but it is working great for me now.
