Day 4 Hysterectomy Recovery

Has anyone experienced being sore all over? Chest, back, etc. I can hardly stand having loose waste band pjs on. Around my back my skin/muscles are weird. If I push on those areas are extremely tender. I don't really have any incision pain, occasionally my belly button area. I had the DaVinci laparoscopic surgery on Tuesday.

I feel better than I expected, but am a touch worried about how tender my back and chest is.

Re: Day 4 Recovery

I had that also, till today. I had my first BM, and it all went away. I wonder if it was trapped gas pains. I hope you get to feeling better.

Re: Day 4 Recovery

There are certainly a few possible culprits.
I had that same sort of waistline pain. 2 things I noticed were that my abs would get really tight from reclining and when I stood up, if I very slowly and gently stood really straight and gently arched just the tiniest bit, the muscles would release and a huge amount of the discomfort went away. So if I was lying down I would actually lay flat, no pillow to stretch or stand briefly to stretch. Made a very big difference for me. It took about 3-4 days before I discovered this.
Also, from the pressure from the inflated gas, your diaphragm was irritated, and many describe shoulder pain. I didn't have that , rather I had pain under my ribs which went away in a few days.

I think it was day 6 when those 2 things were notably less for me.

And yeah, I was just achy all over. Not too surprised- had quite some bruising here and there. This was no delicate little thing. There must have been pulling, tugging and all sorts of stuff going on in the OR!

Re: Day 4 Recovery

I am having lower back pain too. I think it might be from being inclined on the OR table for a few hours. And maybe the back muscles overcompensate for not being able to use those abs. A heating pad on my back is helping me a lot.

Thanks for the info!!
I was having a hard time figuring out what it was from. I will try the stretching to see if that helps!
