Vaginal cuff question at 13 weeks post op

Hi Ladies,
Have just had another 'phantom period' where I get the IBS, sore boobs, backache but no bleeding!! (YAY) But have had a dragging feeling around the vaginal cuff area like I used to get around my period. Has anyone else had this and is it anything to worry about? I have no bleeding and only a very slight yellow discharge which I have had since the operation and thought this was just normal for me? I had my hyst done abdominally 3 months ago. Any advice please?
Thanks
Herne

Hi Herne
I think you should call and double check with your dr about this discharge. If you don't have a cervix it seems odd to me that you still have this unless you have a little something still going on with that cuff. I know at that point I really had no discharge. Let us know if you find out anything.
When you keep your ovaries you can still get the pms symptoms you had before your hyst just without the bleeding. I'm guessing this is what you're experiencing.

Vaginal cuff question at 13 weeks post op

Hi Ladies,
Went to my Doctors about the vaginal cuff problem, he said the dragging feeling was because I would have had a period at that time, he said things swelled up down there and it put pressure on the stitches during what would have been that time of the month. Weird!! The discharge was normal vaginal secretions which he said I would still get even though I have no cervix. It was best to get it checked out though!! Hope this helps other ladies with similar concerns.
Best wishes to all
Herne

Herne,
Thank you for letting us know what you found out. I'm interested to know about the discharge. Since I didn't have any, I wasn't sure if some do or not, very interesting.

Vaginal cuff question at 13 weeks post op

I only had a discharge post op surgery which was bloody, when I had the granuloma which was yellowish, and while I had granulatin tissue which again was also yellowish. Once that was treated and I was released at 6 months I have not had anymore discharge, and I am 10 months post op! From what I read a discharge is created from your cervix so no cervix no discharge. I thought the vagina releases moisture to keep vagina healthy, and also from sexual arousal to help during intercourse. Seems if one has a discharge it is either a infection or some healing still going on. Even my Dr. told me I wouldn't experience a discharge due to my cervix being removed.

(((Ladies)))
The vaginal cuff is where the cervix used to be. When it is removed the dr sews it up like the top of a tube sock. So, if you still have your cervix you don't have one. There are usually numerous stitches and it's very important you let this area heal completely before resuming normal activity. You don't want to pull it lose or risk infection. This is a wound just like you see on the outside of your body only its internal. Hope this helps.
