Hurts to sit hurts to lay

Help please!!! It's been one week and one day since ive had my LAVH. I know it's cold in Germany but I haven't been outside, our heat is on but I can't shake these chills. I cannot get warm. Also I'm having these crazy headaches that won't seem to go away when I lay down or sit up. Lastly, I can barely sit b/c it hurts so I lean on one cheek and alternate when one gets tired. The painkillers make the constipation worse, it makes my bowels lazy.Is ANYBODY out there experiencing the same? Please talk to me...

Re: Hurts to sit hurts to lay

pain killers will do that, can you buy Miralax in Germany...milk of mags or something?? i would start on something like that asap to move the slugish bowels.

yes at 1 wk it will hurt to sit, stand, lay for long periods....when you are sitting prop your legs up on a pillow to relieve the pressure that is put on the bladder and vagina, you should use a pillow between legs when laying for same reason. you will have to adjust periodically, and that will decrease in time, but 1 wk is still very early. the headaches could be from meds, hormones, lack of sleep...the chills is what im not sure of, i would take your temp regularly and make sure you arent running a low grade and if so call your doc, not something i would sit on.

feel better!!!

Re: Hurts to sit hurts to lay

By all means, take a stool softener and drink lots of water. I've been taking Colace every night, eating fiber (fruits, veg, whole grains, bran, nuts, etc.) and have been avoiding cheese and red meat. Had my LAVH on the 12th and I have been doing everything I can to avoid constipation. Even a little bit of walking helps.

The headaches might be from the painkillers. Codeine and such give me killer headaches. Check with your doctor about trying something else. Also a good idea to check for fever. I had a slight infection in part of one incision and my doctor immediately put me on antibiotics. No sense messing around with that! Take care and let us know how it's going.

Re: Hurts to sit hurts to lay

Hello I'm almost two weeks post LAVH with removal of rt. ovary. I still have a lot of pain, and getting comfortable is still a challenge. Was starting to feel a it better Monday, but while sleeping my dog jumped up right no my stomach, and now feel right where I was before. The heating pad has been my best friend and just trying to relax. I agree if you are having chills make sure to take your temp, this is signs of infection if you to have one.
Best of luck and hang in there

I have been sleeping and sitting with a large pillow on my tummy to discourage my 15 pound lap cat from getting on me. Also provides a protective layer even if he tries...

I'm taking stool softeners and eating a high fiber diet. I just don't like these headaches and I don't feel well. I just took my temp and it's 100.2 but I think we're to call if it gets to 100.4, is that correct?

Re: Hurts to sit hurts to lay

The first week I was home, there was no way I could sleep in the bed unless I had a nest of stacked up pillows, otherwise I slept in the recliner or on the couch. A body pillow will help.

Re: Hurts to sit hurts to lay

Hope you feel better soon! Gas ofter makes it difficult for me to sit with comfort. Have you tried an anti-gas product like Gas-X? Best wishes and prayers coming your way!

Re: Hurts to sit hurts to lay

That would be enough of a fever for me to call. Please do. And ask about painkillers and headaches, too. No reason to suffer if there's something that can help.
