scared and confused

Hi all! I'm new to the site and have many questions.
First, let me give you alittle background on me. I was dignosed with cervical cancer back in may this year. My Dr. said I needed a TVH because they couldnt get all the abnormal cells with a LEEP.and im one step away from invasive cancer, so here i am a few weeks away from my surgery. ok, My main question is what are the common problems with getting your cervix removed? I am so scared and nervous and have no clue what to expect with this surgery. I have heard so many things, but none from ppl that have had this surgery done, any info would be great! oh BTW, glad I found this site, it is fantastic!!!

Hi Shannon!

welcome to hystersisters, and I am so glad you have caught the cancer before it became more serious. This sounds like the right step for you, so at least you don't have the torture of wondering if this is the "right" decision. It's clearly the only decision you can make right now.

Still, there's all the anxiety and fears to deal with. And there's plenty. I am having a TVH, also, but it's not until tomorrow, so I can't answer the questions about missing cervix. But I never looked at it like I would be dealing with special problems because my cervix is coming out. I suppose there are some differing opinions about that, it holding the pelvic floor up, etc. But since there are so many different opinions on what purpose the cervix serves, it seems to me there is no way to predict what you personally will have to face without one. For both our sakes, I hope we won't be able to tell the difference! I'll be peeking in on this post to see what kind of answers you get from princesses who know --

Take care, good luck,

Teena

Cervical Cancer also

Hi, nice to meet someone with the same problem I have, I am scheduled for a LAVH with BSO on 8/26/02. I am not sure what to expect either, but you have come to the right place. This site is the BEST. Hope all goes well, let me know are thing are.
