red meat & hormones

I asked my md what i should be doing to prepare for surgery and he said to stay off red meat unless it was organic because of the hormones. I do not get the impression he is a health fanatic so i was surprised he said that. Aren't they pushing stuff into the chickens too?

red meat & hormones

Hi,

I go to a dr who is concerned about this for my own health. She has me get all beef, chicken, pork, etc. free from hormones, antibiotics. I am also eating organic produce and foods.

It is a real concern these days what we eat. I do the best I can. I can't always do this, but try. I can't always do this if I go out to eat.

I think the regular grocery stores are offering more of these types of foods and we will see more to come.

red meat & hormones

Hi,

When I had breast cancer last year, my doctor suggested switching to organic milk as it contains less oestrogen, and my tumor was oestrogen receptor positive.

Now that I have had my ovaries removed, and can't take HRT or any similar, I have gone back to regular milk as I need all the hormones I can get!

i went in to my doctor complaining of night sweats and hot flashes about five months after my hyst and said that i need some hormones ..
in reply he said "Eat Chicken!" and i said "no....really?" and he laughed and said "yes really!" i always knew there were hormones in all meats but didnt think they could contain that much. also i buy only milk that has no recumbent bovine growth hormones...
